The key to success in business is being willing to take action when necessary. And when you don’t hesitate, the rewards pay off. I have recently had the pleasure of meeting and assisting a young professional, Ashton L. Wilson. Ashton is an author, speaker, and youth intervention coach who helps young men to become their best. I was impressed with Ashton’s passion for helping young men.

Ashton was in the process of launching his new website, www.ashtonlwilson.com. We spoke about some of the options available for marketing his business. Using some new platforms, Ashton began building a following. He started with a new podcast: “Mr. Real Talk.”
Without hesitation, Ashton took action. He downloaded an app from FreeConferenceCallHD.com and began using it to record his podcasts; we uploaded those podcasts to Audio Acrobat and syndicated them to multiple podcast channels. Using podcasts and later Periscope, Ashton has reached not only a larger audience but also some influencers in the market place. The lesson here is you do not have to spend a lot of money to launch.
He has also embraced blogging and other social media platforms, including Twitter. And all of this is happening while he continues to work on his next book, which should be published in the spring.
“Periscope has been amazing. You can present a message, and people from all over the world can hear. I have met some influential people through Periscope and they have invited me to speak on their shows, or their Blabs. Periscope helps me reach a broader audience that I may have not been able to reach without it. I appreciate Donna Amos on all her guidance, encouragement, and help. Having [a] podcast on iTunes helps me reach a different audience. Not everyone listens to podcast[s], but for those who do, I can reach them. I think my foundation for the launch of my website ( www.ashtonlwilson.com ) is stronger than I could have imagined. “ Ashton
Ashton took action immediately and has experienced success as a result. My question for you is this: Are you an action taker? Or do you procrastinate, second-guess yourself, and talk yourself out of moving forward? Maybe you feel stuck in your business, like you’ve hit an invisible ceiling in your income. If so, you need to re-examine your belief in yourself and your business skills. Do you believe you have reached the level that you were destined to?
Here’s a request for you: Spend some time this week examining your beliefs, thoughts, and habits. If something is holding you back, change it, so you can reach the next level.
For any of this to happen, you must take action. Write new, more powerful thoughts that you can recite over and over. Take on a new challenge that you are fearful of — it will stretch your courage muscle and give you more confidence in yourself and your abilities. You can change your life, as long as you are willing.
I am proud of Ashton and his decision to take action, and I wish him much success with his business.
Now it’s your turn, what actions are you putting off taking? Go for it, if not today then when?
